Hello everybody, I just wanted to tell you how much I love my Retract-A-Gate retractable gate. With my toddler, our standard poodle dog, and another baby on the way, we use our gate in many ways every day. I love the clearance I get with Retract-A-Gate – compared to other gates, it gives me the most room to walk through. We purchased the 72-inch version which we installed in our lower level to cover the bottom of the stairs, but with additional brackets, I can pivot the gate to also block the living room, and even quickly move it upstairs when needed. It’s quiet, and so easy to operate and lock, even with only one hand when I’m carrying the baby. I hope you enjoyed my video!

With our wrought iron railing and tall baseboard, I wasn’t sure how a safety gate could be installed by our stairs, but we really needed to secure the area at the top of our stairway. I researched and was excited to find the Retract-A-Gate! We purchased the Stair Banister Adaptor Kit and the Wall Spacer Set, and they helped make installation of our Retract-A-Gate so easy. I’m so glad that we were able to find a solution to keep our baby daughter and pets safe.

When I purchased my Retract-A-Gate, I wanted something that would keep my daycare children and my dogs safe. I also wanted a product that wouldn’t stand out and could let my house be my home after I am done working. It works so great with my daycare kids – it keeps them out of unsafe areas like the kitchen. Both the kids and dogs can push or pull on it, but they aren’t able to get under or over it, and I love the see-through mesh that lets them see me, keeping them feeling secure and calm. It blends in the with color of my cabinets, and it’s so easy to retract out of the way when I have friends or family coming and don’t need to block off the kitchen. Installing it was so easy – it only took about 10 minutes, and we were ready to go. I really like my Retract-A-Gate!

For a tight space without room for a swinging gate, or if you just prefer a discreet look, we like the Retract-A-Gate by Smart Retract. It’s a piece of mesh fabric that unspools across an opening and hooks on the other side. We looked at three retractable gates, and the Retract-A-Gate stood out for its simpler handle. It was also the easiest to hook in the closed position, and the sheet never got bunched up during testing. The downsides are that it has a multistep lock that can be tedious, and it’s also expensive.

The Retract-A-Gate Safety Gate is the highest customer rated gate on our list, and it’s also the most expensive … What makes it so popular is its high-quality material. Many retractable baby gates are made from mesh, which can be quite weak sometimes, but the Retract-A-Gate system uses a higher quality mesh that is designed to be sturdy and scratch resistant.

They have also put a lot of thought into the design as far as safety and usability goes. The gate is designed for one hand operation and opens and closes quietly. The gate we ordered (in black, although it’s also sold in white or mocha) arrived with all the necessary bits and setting it up was quite easy. I’m happy to report that since we put them in, our house — sorry, our stairs — have remained accident-free.

This baby gate is made from a strong mesh material and is designed to work for openings up to 52 inches wide. The gate itself is 34 inches tall, but the total height (including the locking mechanism) is 38 inches tall. The childproof lock is easy to operate with one hand.

I realized [Retract-A-Gate] is all the things I could want a gate to be! Annnnnd… it rolls up into a neat little (almost invisible) roll when not in use! All I could think was… ‘how does every mom NOT know about this? Why aren’t these in every home with children?’ … When we head upstairs for baths in the evenings, we just grab the roll and head up with the girls, snap it on at the top of the stairs… and let the girls have the run of the second floor!

The company is right here in Iowa! Which is a major bonus, since I love to buy local.

My new favorite gate!

I bought this gate after watching a bunch of retractable gate videos and reading a bunch of reviews. And I have to say it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. There is no loud ticking when putting it away. Super easy to install. When locked there’s no way any child is going over through or under it. It’s very easy to move out of the way when not in use which is the main reason I got it. I am definitely going to purchase more. This is my new favorite gate, I don’t think I will ever purchase a different baby gate again. Definitely worth the money, plus it looks great! Keeps kids out and dogs in!

A gate that stands up to kids.

The [Retract-A-Gate] at the base of the stairs has withstood 1.5 years of my “little scientist’s experiments.” We have another brand of retractable gate also, but the little scientist managed to break off a critical piece of the gate and it’s useless. So when we needed another gate at the kitchen, I went right back to this brand for its superior design and durability. Ultimately, I highly recommend this gate because of its flexibility, compact footprint, and reliability. The customer service is awesome, too! This is just a great product from a great company. The longest lasting gate on the market.

After almost 7 years of heavy use (3 large dogs!) and all kinds of seasonal weather, it’s time to replace our Retract-A-Gate at the top of the stairs of our deck! A good solid product that stands the test of time!! We definitely got our money’s worth on this purchase.

High quality and easy to use gate.

The security is dead solid. It has very little give. It also has the ability to swivel a bit if you don’t have perfectly parallel angles. One handed operation as promised and simple to open and close. The dogs don’t feel cut off from the pack due to the shearness and it detaches quickly if you ever need it to.
The price was a little bit on the high side, but I’m glad I went with USA made. I helped my people and got a damn good product for it. If you’re looking at the $50 or $60 dollar similar models like I did, we all know you’re taking a gamble due to the country of origin and you’ll be fighting to get your money back in a week.

All in all, perfect rating for quality, ease of use and effectiveness. Just ordered another. Thank you for caring about what you build and sell, people like myself depend on the quality.

Well made dog gate.

I ordered your 72″ retractable gate for our 9 month old German Shepherd. I finally got it installed and I’m very pleased. I wasn’t sure if she would jump on it or rip it. Just ordered my fourth Retract-A-Gate to solve yet another challenge managing my dogs and foster dogs. They have been a great solution to keeping the dogs out of several areas and work so much better than those rickety wood baby gates!

Easily holds up to child leaning on it.

We love this gate! It started out being utilized in our living room to help corral the baby while she was just learning to crawl. Now that she can walk, we have easily moved it over to the stairs to prevent venturing upstairs. It’s easy to open and close, easy to lock and unlock. My 5 year old is able to maneuver the gate independently. And when locked, the gate withstands the weight of my 45 lb daughter leaning in it full force with no buckling or gaps. My mom requested an easy to use gate and this has fit the bill! It’s been great!
